Saudi Arabia has been confirmed as the host nation for the 2034 World Cup.
The country, where currently Cristiano Ronaldo play at club level, put forward the only bid to host the competition 10 years from now and the football governing body confirmed its award at a Congress today. However, the bid was put to vote in a very controversial way – with FIFA participants pushed to vote either for or against both a multi-nation host for the 2030 World Cup and the Middle East country being given the next tournament. Both votes for 2030 and 2034 World Cups were held at once and nobody was allowed to vote separately on the tournaments.
