The Japanese is the first person to start as pitcher and lead off in an All-Star Game.

Two-time American League All-Star and 2021 AL Most Valuable Player Shohei Ohtani has signed a multi-year endorsement deal with Boston-based sports apparel company New Balance.

The 28-year-old Los Angeles Angels star two-way player from Japan has become a face of Major League Baseball after performances on the mound and at the plate, including becoming the first person to start as pitcher and lead off in an All-Star Game.

Ohtani immediately made an impact when he joined the Angels in 2018, earning Rookie of the Year honors.

He played for Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters in the Pacific League of Nippon Professional Baseball between 2013 and 2017.
