Edmonton will face Florida for the most prestigious trophy in the NHL.

For the Edmonton Oilers, the process from worst to 1st in the West is complete. And now they will have the opportunity to lift the title.

Connor McDavid scored and assisted in the 1st period to get Oilers going, Stuart Skinner made 34 saves for his hometown organization and Edmonton secured its place in the Stanley Cup final by winning 2-1 against the Dallas Stars at Rogers Place in Edmonton, AB.

Zach Hyman also notched – like Connor, on a 1st-period power play – and Evan Bouchard finished with 2 assists for Edmonton, who won the Western Conference in 6 matches and will compete for the title for the 1st time since 2006.

Edmonton will travel to Florida for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final, as the matchup is set to begin at the beginning of the weekend. The Panthers are playing at the Stanley Cup final for the 3rd time after getting swept by Avs in 1996 and also being defeated by the Golden Knights in 5 matches in the past season.

“When the game finished, that’s the loudest I ever heard it,” McDavid shared of the atmosphere at Rogers Place after the triumph as the supporters chanted that they want the title.
