Alex is also the 2nd player in league history with 6 goals in a 4-match span at age 40 or older, as Teemu Selanne did it 14 years ago.
The Russian scored the 1st goal in the game in a power play a minute in the 1st period, firing a wrist shot past goalie Sam Montembeault off a faceoff. The Capitals’ superstar then assisted Ethen Frank 2 minutes in the 2nd that gave the Capitals the lead for good at 2-1.
Ovechkin notched 2 goals late in the 3rd period to continue to write history in the NHL.
