The episode happened during Tottenham’s 1-0 victory in the league at their stadium against Crystal Palace in the past season in May with images showing a fan appearing to mock Son’s ethnicity.
After evidence were provided to the police, the supporter admitted his guilt and was sanctioned with 60 hours of charity work and a fine.
However, Tottenham were unhappy with his punishment and demanded a stronger penalty, which led to the supporter receiving a greater ban.
“The Metropolitan Police, supported by the team, approached the English Football Policing Unit to seek an appeal vs. the punishment and, as a result of that action, the court issued the fan with a 3-year football banning order.”
