Late goals from Oliver Ekman-Larsson gave Florida the edge

The Florida Panthers edged out the Anaheim Ducks 2-1 in a tightly-contested game to extend their strong run of form in November on Friday night.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson proved to be the hero for Florida as his goal put the in-form team in front for a 7th win in the last nine games.

Eetu Luostarinen also scored, while Anton Lundell finished off with a pair of assists.

“We’ve played some pretty darn good hockey (this month) and most of it is just scratch and claw and grind,” coach Paul Maurice said. “I think in the first part of this game was the first time we were moving pretty good offensively.”

Frank Vatrano scored the sole goal for the Ducks, as goaltender John Gibson stopped 31 shots.

“We weren’t very good. Let’s be honest. The first couple of periods, we were lucky it was only 2-1.,” Ducks coach Greg Cronin said. “We waited until the third period. I think we were going before we got the power-play goal, we were getting some zone time. Then, we played with some urgency and it was too little, too late.”
