New England’s player pleaded not guilty to the assault allegation.

New England Patriots WR Stefon Diggs pleaded not guilty today to felony strangulation and other criminal charges stemming from an alleged dispute with his chef.

The arraignment had been delayed because of the Super Bowl so that the wide receiver could be on the field in the championship game.

Stefon will be in court again at the beginning of April.

The scandal between his personal chef and Diggs was about money, as the woman claims that the Patriots’ star owes her money. The incident happened at the beginning of December as the chef shared that Stefon “smacked her across the face” and “tried to choke her using the crook of his elbow around her neck,” as she couldn’t breathe during that time.

However, Stefon’s lawyer has revealed that his client “categorically denies these allegations,” calling them unsubstantiated and fake for money extortion. New England shared that they stay behind their player.

Investigators revealed the chef 1st reported the assault on December 16th, 14 days after it allegedly happened. The woman claims that she thought a lot about reporting it, and after 2 weeks decided to do so.
