Denver Broncos manager Sean Payton regretted his criticism of ex-Denver boss Nathaniel Hackett and shared that it was “a mistake,” and in the time to come will be very careful how he talks.
Sean Payton said he maybe still had his FOX hat on during his interview with @JarrettBell and not his coaching hat. Payton said the Broncos had a great off-season outside of that interview. He regretted it 40 minutes after the interview. pic.twitter.com/SftDtwGNnU

Payton labeled the former Broncos head coach’s 15-match run with the organization “1 of the worst coaching jobs in the history of the league” and blamed “20 dirty hands” on QB Russell Wilson’s career-worst campaign after Wilson finished with only 16 TDs and NFL’s high 55 sacks.
Payton apologized publicly today and claimed that he would reach Nathaniel, who works as NY Jets offensive coordinator and will apologize personally to him.
“Listen, I had 1 of those times where I still had my FOX TV hat on and not my managing hat on,” Sean shared with the media today.
He also added that he will be more careful in the future not to regret what he says.
Hackett was dismissed on December 26th after 15 matches into his 1st campaign with Denver, and Payton was named the new head coach in February.
