Pittsburgh fired the president of hockey operations and the general manager.

Pittsburgh Penguins discharged Ron Hextall – president of hockey operations, and Brian Burke – GM.

The duo was appointed in Feb. 2021 to improve the team and compete for the Stanley Cup.

Hextall and Burke were tasked to keep the hockey club stars without suffering the long-term forthcoming.

However, with little to no improvement in both tasks, it is logical that the Penguins let them go.

Pittsburgh terminated their contracts on Friday after the franchise missed the playoffs in NHL for the 1st time in 17 seasons. That was the longest streak of making the postseason in the most popular North American sports.
