Sergio Perez admitted on Thursday that he and Max Verstappen have cleared the air after the final lap fiasco in Jeddah, when the Dutchman clocked the fastest lap to secure an extra points without the Mexican’s knowledge.
The 33-year old was told to keep a certain pace towards the end of the race, as was Max Verstappen. However, the Dutchman didn’t fully comply with his team’s orders as he slowed down 2-3 laps before the end to charge the battery and go on to a last lap push, which saw him snatch away the fastest lap from Perez and subsequently that one extra point, with the help of which he still leads the standings.
Perez rather bitterly implied the need of a ‘review’ of the situation in his post-race interview.
However, the mood in Australia seems much more rosier as the Mexican said it himself.
“Things are great, I think we spoke about it and we are all in the same line, we obviously learn from that. At the time I thought I was not given the right information but now looking back at it, it was all very well played by the team.” he said.
Perez along with teammate Verstappen will be looking to keep the fantastic momentum the team find themselves after dominant displays in the opening two races.
