The 55-year-old is currently the voice of the Premier League on US broadcaster NBC Sport, but that will change as he is set to take a higher step in the hierarchy.
Drury began his broadcasting career in 1990 in a local radio in Leeds. He is highly popular among viewers and many had seen him as natural successor to Tyler.
Sky Sports will soon make the announcement official as Drury is expected to take charge of one game a week.
“Everyone at Sky Sports would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Martin for his unparalleled contribution and dedication to our coverage over the last 30 years. “The Voice” will always be synonymous with the Premier League and Sky Sports.” Gary Hughes, Sky Sports’ director of football said.
