Philadelphia Union marched on effortlessly in their game against Alianza FC

Philadelphia Union booked their place in the CCL last 8 after a convincing 4-0 victory over Alianza FC on Tuesday night.

The first leg finished a goalless draw which may have concerned some of Philadelphia supporters. However, no such worries were present after last night performance, which saw the team breeze pass clueless Alianza team.

Damion Lowe, Daniel Gazdag and a brace from Andres Perea were enough for a 4-0 drubbing over Alianza.

Philadelphia will be paired against Atlas in the quarter-final, who produced a miraculous comeback against Olimpia after being down 4-1 in the first leg, winning the return game 4-0.

The pivotal moment in the match came in the 40th minute, when Alexis Renderos was booked second time and subsequently sent off. Up until that moment Union weren’t very successful in breaking Alianza’s defence.

The Philadelphia team immedietely grabbed the initiative and as early as the 45th minute opened the scoring through Damion Lowe. Daniel Gazdag doubled Union’s lead after a penalty kick in the 62nd minute.

Second-half substitution Perea made the most of Alianza disorganised defence and bagged a quick brace in the 81st and 84th minute.
