The NBA is heading back to Mexico City next season, and this time, it’s the Detroit Pistons and Dallas Mavericks who will take the court.
The league announced on June 10, that the Pistons will face the Mavericks in a regular-season game on November 1 in Mexico City — the first confirmed matchup on Detroit’s 2025–26 schedule.

This will mark the Pistons’ third appearance in Mexico’s capital. They previously faced the Mavericks there on December 12, 2019, and played a preseason game against the Washington Bullets (now Wizards) on October 29, 1995. The November clash will be the Mavericks’ eighth appearance in Mexico City, reinforcing their role as frequent international ambassadors for the NBA.
Overall, this will be the 34th NBA game played in Mexico, continuing the league’s ongoing efforts to grow the game globally.
The Pistons will enter the 2025–26 campaign with momentum after a remarkable turnaround season. In 2024–25, they improved by 30 wins — finishing 44–38 after enduring the worst season in franchise history just one year prior. That surge earned them a playoff berth for the first time since 2019.
