The Blues manager Mauricio Pochettino has claimed he was left with no choice but to start Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo in Saturday’s 2-2 tie against Arsenal, joking that the team’s owners would kill him if he rested them.
Fernandez and Caicedo, bought for more than 100 million dollars each, spent the whole match on Saturday against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.
A Cole Palmer penalty and a phenomenal goal from Mykhailo Mudryk gave Chelsea 2 goals lead, but the Blues failed to keep the lead and the match ended without a winner – 2-2.
Mauricio played Fernandez and Caicedo despite both playing for their countries in South America and not having enough time to rest.
“Caicedo and Enzo arrived after 2 matches in South America, and they were not in optimal condition. But they are key footballers for our squad,” the manager shared.
“So now we will have 7 days to prepare for our next game, and for sure, they will be fresh for our next clash.”
