Mauricio Pochettino admits the Blues “took advantage” of not being in Europe as they used the additional time to train and prepare for the upcoming Premier League match.
Chelsea failed to qualify for Europe for just the 2nd time in 26 years after ending in 12th place in the league in the past campaign.
The new season they also started catastrophically as the North London side triumphed in 1 of their first 5 matches this season.
“The situation has given us time to train, and our team had a really good week,” claimed the Blues head coach.
“It’s a time that, of course, for the supporters is bad because they are used to being in the European tournaments, but it is what it is, and we must take advantage of the situation.”
🗣️ “They’re not disappointed, because we share the same ideas about that and the performances are good.”
