Williams, who sustained the injury during Sunday’s defeat against the Memphis Grizzlies, is expected to be fully recovered for the beginning of the 2024-25 campaign.
Robert is expected to undergo the surgery in the next few days.
The center, who became a Trail Blazers player as part of the Jrue Holiday exchange with the Boston Celtics 2 months ago, had been wanted by a few organizations that anticipated that Portland would consider trading him before the February trade deadline. Blazers had been playing Williams along with Deandre Ayton, who arrived from the Suns as part of the Damian Lillard exchange.
Williams (26) has proved himself in the NBA as an elite rim protector, leading the league in field goal percentage allowed as the closest defender among basketballers to defend 1,000 shots.
