The Citizens allegedly breached the Premier League financial rules over a period of nine seasons.
The Etihad Stadium club alleged to have not provided accurate financial information, “in particular with respect to its revenue (including sponsorship revenue), its related parties and its operating costs”.
According to the British media, range of sanctions possible facing the Etihad Stadium club could include a points deduction if breaches are proved.
Manchester City have become one of football’s powerhouses thanks to considerable financial investment since being taken by Abu Dhabi Group in 2008.
The arrival of the Gulf-based owners heralded a new era of unprecedented success with the club winning six Premier League titles since the takeover.
