Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, who is also chairman of the European Club Association, once again confirmed his opposition to the proposed Super League, which has garnered support from Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona.
“I recently asked Barcelona president Laporta when they intend to abandon the notion of a Super League. As far as I’m concerned, there is no Super League. The Champions League stands as the premier club tournament globally, and both clubs participate in it. We even faced each other in the quarter-finals. I hope they discontinue this initiative soon as it serves no purpose,” Al-Khelaifi said, as reported by “Mundo Deportivo.”
Last year, the European Court ruled against FIFA and UEFA’s efforts to prohibit the creation of the Super League, which was initially proposed in 2021 and Real Madrid alongside Barcelona confirmed they intend to continue with the project, changing the initial structure and regulations.
