Mariota, who turns 30 later this year, was released on 28 February by the Falcons, having spent one season with Atlanta.
The veteran QB had 15 touchdowns and nine Interceptions with a 61.3 percentage in 13 games. Unfortunately for Mariota, the Atlanta team benched him in Week 15 and the remainder of the season had been injury-hit for the 29-year old, as he had to undergo a surgery for a chronic knee injury.
With Mariota Philadelphia can have backup for Pro Bowl QB Jalen Hurts, who started 15 games last season.
Hurts missed two games last campaign due to sprained shoulder. The Eagles came out with Gardner Minshew in his place and the team from Philadelphia lost both games. Minshew threw three touckdowns in three Interceptions throughout the course of those two matches.
Throughout his long career of 8 seasons spent with 3 clubs (Tennessee, Las Vegas and Atlanta), Mariota has a record of 34-40.
Mariota’s signing add up to the long list of Philadelphia new signings, which includes running back Rashaad Penny, Fletcher Cox and cornerbacks James Bradberry and Darious Slay.
