Andy Murray’s Wimbledon career has come to an end after Emma Raducanu withdrew from their planned appearance in the mixed doubles. The former world number one, aged 37, was set to partner with Raducanu on Saturday evening at the All England Club.
Raducanu, 21, cited “some stiffness” in her right wrist as the reason for her withdrawal. She had advanced to the fourth round of the women’s singles with a dominant two-set victory over Greek ninth seed Maria Sakkari on Friday.
“I have decided to make the very tough decision to withdraw from the mixed doubles,” Raducanu stated. “I’m disappointed as I was really looking forward to playing with Andy but I’ve got to take care.”
