The Magpies return to the Champions League after missing the tournament for a long time, but suffered a defeat in their opener.
The 1st half was very interesting with a lot of attack from both clubs, but neither of them was able to score. The biggest chance for a goal in the 1st 45 minutes came for the Magpies as Harvy Barnes shot from close range, but Joan Garcia saved his shot to keep the goalless draw.
At the beginning of the 2nd half, Barcelona took the lead after Jules Kounde’s cross ended up on Marcus Rashford’s head, and he scored in the 58th minute.
Only 8 minutes later, Rashford scored again, as this time his goal was phenomenal, with a shot outside the box, as the ball went into the top left corner of the net.

At the end of the regular time, Anthony Gordon received the ball inside the box and made his team’s trail only 1 goal, but in the 7 minutes of extra time, the Magpies failed to score another goal and to avoid the defeat.
