Ineos owner sir Jim Ratcliffe and Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim have submitted their respected bids in the quest of taking over Manchester United.
The two parties met with club officials earlier this month and arranged a meeting for today’s evening for a second, revised bid.
It is understood that Ratcliffe has an interest to buy the Glazers combined sharehold of 69%, whereas Sheikh Jassim is interested in the full 100%.
The result of the latest meetings is reported to have been positive after both side’s visit to Old Trafford.
The current Manchester United’s owners – the Glazers family – have set a valuation mark of £5-6bn for the club. That’s the sum any potential buyer has to pay if he wants to acquire the club’s shares.
Whether Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim have submitted a bid, sufficient enough for the Glazers requirements, remains to be seen.
The other uncertain point is, even with the sufficient money, would the American holders be persuaded to sell the club. With United vastly improving under new manager Erik Ten Hag, they may think better of selling their shares and instead look to sell minority stakes to the likes of US hedge fund Elliot Investment Manegement.
