The Spaniard is expected to take Thibaut Courtois’ place, who will miss the majority of the season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
Kepa joined Chelsea back in 2018 from Athletic Bilbao in for 80 million euros – a record-breaking transfer fee for a goalkeeper.
He has made 163 appearances for the Blues, winning the Europa League and the Champions League with them.
However, Kepa was made second-choice goalkeeper during Thomas Tuchel reign after Edouard Mendy, who left for Saudi Arabia.
Despite that, the 28-year-old faced a new challenger in the face of new signing Robert Sanchez, who started the opening game against Liverpool.
