Los Blancos win the trophy for the first time in England

Real Madrid claimed the Champions League trophy for the 15th time in their history with a 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund at Wembley.

Dani Carvajal opened the scoring in the 74th minute with a header from a Toni Kroos cross. Shortly after, Jude Bellingham assisted Vinicius Junior, who sealed the win for the Spanish giants.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team endured a challenging first half, during which Dortmund missed several opportunities and hit the post. In the closing minutes, a goal by Nicolas Füllkrug was disallowed for offside.

The match was briefly interrupted at the start by a pitch invader. In the 12th minute, Fede Valverde’s shot went over the target. Dortmund then increased the tempo and created several good chances. Karim Adeyemi faced Thibaut Courtois one-on-one, but after getting past the goalkeeper, the angle was too tight, and he couldn’t score. In the 26th minute, Füllkrug hit the post, and Courtois made several crucial saves to keep the score level at halftime.

Real Madrid showed a different face after the break. Early in the second half, Toni Kroos fired a stunning free-kick, which Gregor Kobel saved. Madrid’s pressure paid off a quarter of an hour before the end of regular time when Carvajal headed in a cross from Kroos. The goal boosted “Los Merengues,” who then besieged Dortmund’s penalty area. Vinicius Junior capitalized on a pass from Bellingham in the 83rd minute to make it 2-0.

Shortly after, a goal by Füllkrug was disallowed for offside, sealing Real Madrid’s victory and their 15th Champions League title.

This final was the last game at club level for Toni Kroos and Marco Reus as both German midfielders shared the moment.
