Real Madrid are currently preparing a shortlist, which consists mainly of former players, who would potentially succeed Carlo Ancelotti after the Italian announced he will bi leading Brazil at Copa America in 2024.
The players in question are Zinedine Zidane, Xabi Alonso, Raul Gonzales and Alvaro Arbeloa.
Zidane is naturally the primary target, having led the team to 2 La Ligas and 3 Champions Leagues already, but the Frenchman could be detained by a possible offer from the French national team.
Alonso is a candidate number 2 with the Spaniard impressing at Bayer Leverkusen. The Aspirins were in a relegation scramble when the 41-year-old took charge and finished in 6th by the end of the season.
As for Arbeloa and Raul, they both did well last season with Arbeloa winning the league at Under 18s and Raul nearly promoting Castilla to Spain’s second divison.
