Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has emphasized the urgent need for a zero-tolerance approach towards the recurring issue of racism in LaLiga, particularly following recent incidents involving forward Vinicius Jr.
Vinicius himself has called on UEFA to address alleged racist chants from Atletico Madrid and Barcelona supporters. Real Madrid has taken further action by lodging a complaint with the state prosecutor’s office over hate and discrimination offenses.
The Brazilian player has sadly been subjected to racial abuse multiple times while playing in Spain, prompting both local and international campaigns against racism. Ancelotti stressed the severity of the issue, emphasizing the necessity for decisive action.
Reflecting on a previous incident involving Valencia, where several individuals were arrested and lifetime bans were issued, Ancelotti commended their response and urged similar measures from others. He emphasized the importance of collective action to combat racism, stating that such behavior has no place in society and calling for stringent consequences for perpetrators.
