The Red Wings pulled up an early lead and were already 4-1 up in a second period goal frenzy, where they scored 3 times.
However, the Penguins fought back and reduced the deficit to 4-3 midway through the third period.
A last-gasp push from Pittsburgh saw them wide open at the back and Copp took full advantage for his second and restoring the two goal cushion. DeBrincat also followed suit and with 21 seconds remaining rounded up the final scoreline of 6-3.
Ben Chiarot, David Perron and Copp scored in the second period. Goaltender Ville Husso made 30 saves.
For the Penguins Evgeni Milkin struck first, followed by Erik Karlsson and Bryan Rust.
