The 24-year-old limped during Chelsea’s 2-0 loss to Everton. He is no stranger to hamstring problems, as he missed the first 2 months of the season with exactly the same issue.
James had his hamstring scanned and reports revealed that his recovery may not be as easy as anticipated, due to the defender’s previous complications.
It is another blow to Chelsea and manager Mauricio Pochettino, who has expressed his frustration about James’ fitness on multiple occasions.
“Of course for us he is an important player, one of the best full-backs in the world. It is really disappointing because after 15 or 20 minutes we were playing well and I think this type of circumstance makes us change, because of course Malo Gusto is recovering from his injury.” Pochettino said.
“But we are disappointed because when you believe you can build something and a player like him who should be really important for us can’t help the team.”
