Chelsea defender Reece James will be out of the national squad for England’s next Euro 2024 qualifers game against Ukraine on Sunday night.
The 23-year old has returned to Stamford Bridge due to “assesment of ongoing issue”, according to the Football Association.
James featured briefly in England’s 2-1 win over Italy in Naples after coming on in the 85th in the place Bukayo Saka.
Manager Gareth Southgate has decided not to call any backups to take the empty place.
The Chelsea defender missed the 2022 World Cup with a knee injury, while in December he picked up another knee problem, which sidelined him for further one month.
The rest of the English team continue their preparation at the Wembley Stadium for their second Group C game against Ukraine.
