Rio Ferdinand has suggested that Manchester City’s recent dip in form is a result from their trophy-laden 2022-23.
The Citizens achieved a historic Treble last campaign, but they have been unable to match their high standards from last year, as the team recorded their worst run of games without victory under Pep Guardiola in the Premier League.
As a result, the defending champions have plummeted down the order with many questioning if they should even be considered a title contenders as they sit 6 points behind league leaders Arsenal.
“I’ve seen people say they’re not focused anymore or they’re not as hungry but this is a team that’s won three Premier League’s and a treble.” Ferdinand said. “There’s going to be a bit of a hangover maybe.”
“It’s tiring to do that. I was in a team that did three on the bounce and it’s a tiring experience.”
City go against Luton on Sunday in what proves to be a great chance to get back to winning ways.
