Jurickson Profar had a key leadoff homer for Colorado, who ended their longest losing streak of 8 games.
Diaz finished with three hits and had a double.
“This win tonight is going to turn around everything — about pitching, about defense, about hitting,” Díaz said. “We’re going to start right now.”
For Los Angeles Shohei Ohtani once again shone as he registered his 25th home run of the season, his 200th in his career and 151st in majors.
Mike Trout also had an impressive game as he followed Ohtani’s homer with one of his own, giving Angels 4-2 lead at the time.
However, an RBI single from Ezequiel Tovar in the 6th inning started what would become a convincing comeback.
Elehuris Montero and Coco Montes also had three hits for Colorado.
Pierce Johnson struck out three in the eighth for the win, and Justin Lawrence fanned two in a hitless ninth for his third save.
