Follow usRoma won 2-0 their first leg of the Europa League 1/8-finals against Real Sociedad. Stephan El Shaarawy and Marash Kumbulla got on the scoresheet to give their team a healthy lead before the return leg.
The home side was able to score the first goal just after 13 minutes of play. Beautiful build-up found Paulo Dybala, who was able to quickly get to the penalty area and passed to Tammy Abraham. He showed wonderful movement into the area and crossed on the far post where El Shaarawy collected the cross for 1-0.
Just 9 minutes later Takefusa Kubo found his way through the defence and took a shot, but the ball was off the post.
In the second half Andrea Belotti had a chance to double Roma’s lead, but the ball again bounced out of the post. With three minutes left on the clock, Marash Kumbulla was in the right place at the right time and slipped the ball past the goalkeeper from a corner.
