George Russell was stripped of his triumph at the Belgium GP after his Mercedes bolid was found to be underweight after the chequered flag.
Teammate Lewis Hamilton is the new winner at Spa, as that is the British’s second win of the campaign after his victory at the home race at the beginning of July.
Heartbreaking… We came in 1.5kg underweight and have been disqualified from the race.
We left it all on the track today and I take pride in crossing the line first.
There will be more to come.🏆💙 pic.twitter.com/6RfucAqPyF

George’s bolid was weighed after the race and found to be at the minimum weight (798 kilograms), but after fuel was drained from the car, it was found to be 1.5kg underweight.
The incident was referred to the stewards, who determined his bolid to be disqualified.
George triumphed at the Belgium Grand Prix on a 1-stop strategy as he raced with a single set of tires for 34 laps while his competitor made 2 stops to the box.
Mercedes chief Toto Wolff shared that his team must accept a disqualification before the stewards made the final decision.
