George Russell held off Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton to secure the win at a tense Belgium GP as the top 3 were split by just 1.1 seconds.
Lewis was the favorite to triumph at Spa for most time of the race, but George defeated him with a 1-stop strategy while the rest of his competitors in the leading positions were on a 2-stop strategy that cost them better finishes.

Britain was within a second of George in the final 4 laps but couldn’t overcome his teammate for the victory.
Oscar Piastri is the 3rd racer at the podium after closing in on the Mercedes duo in the final several laps, while Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc finished 4th after starting 1st.
Max Verstappen, who started from the 11th position, and McLaren pilots were never close to overcoming Russell and Hamilton as Mercedes secured its 2nd victory in 3 races and its 1st 1-2 since the 2022 Brazilian GP.
Championship leader Verstappen finished 5th as that was enough to extend his lead at the top over Lando Norris, who finished right behind him after the McLaren pilot made a slow start.
