The Scarlet Knights head coach Greg Schiano is a huge supporter of Sheppard, who boasts the physical tools Rutgers need as he’s also smart and a “football guy”.
the 6-foot-2, 230-pound Sheppard, previously committed to Old Dominion, is a dual-threat who can run and has a strong arm and who places the ball well.
Noah Vedral, the starter the previous two seasons, is out of eligibility and set to graduate.
Sheppard, who also had offers from Army, UConn, Monmouth and Delaware, according to 247Sports, is the 17th member of Rutgers’ 2023 recruiting class.
