The Norwegian will face Zverev in the semifinal

Last year’s runner-up Casper Ruud (Norway) qualified for the semifinals of the French Open as he defeated the sixth seed Holger Rune (Denmark) 6:1, 6:2, 3:6, 6:3 on Wednesday.

The Norwegian dominated early on and took 11 of the first 13 games to take a 2-0 set lead. In the third set, Rune made an early break and maintained his lead to win the third, but in the fourth set, Ruud pulled away with 4:1 and ended his opponent’s hopes of a turnaround.

For a place in the second consecutive Roland Garros final, Ruud will face the German Alexander Zverev, who also defeated the Argentine Martin Echeverri in four sets.
