The Belarusian player triumphed after 3 sets.

World number 2 Aryna Sabalenka beat world number 1 Iga Swiatek (6-3, 3-6, 6-3) and won the title at the Mutua Madrid Open.

Sabalenka won the 1st set 6-3 as she made the only break in the set, which was enough for the victory.

Swiatek returned as she triumphed in the 2nd set 6-3 as the Polish player allowed to lose her serve, but also came back with 2 converted break points.

Aryna secured the victory in the deciding 3rd set after 2 breaks from 2 chances as Iga had 4 chances for breaks but converted only 1, which cost her the game and the title in the Madrid Masters.

Sabalenka and Swiatek had played 2 matches before on clay last year as the Polish world number 1 won both of them, but today Aryna was better and will take home the title from the Masters in the Spanish capital.
