The New Orleans Saints are releasing veteran WR Brandin Cooks, and he will become a free agent if he goes unclaimed on waivers after the wide receiver is officially released.

Brandin, who is 32 years old, inked a 2-season contract worth up to a 13 million dollars to return to New Orleans during the spring but was not a crucial factor on offense, finishing 5th in the organization in receptions in the 1st half of the campaign.
He had incentives in his deal for receptions, receiving TDs, time on the field, and receiving yards, but did not hit any of them. Cooks ended with 19 catches for 165 yards and no TDs.
New Orleans drafted him in the 1st round of the NFL Draft 11 years ago, but traded him to the Patriots in 2017. Brandin has 729 receptions for 9,697 yards and 60 TDs in 12 years in the league.
