The New Orleans Saints are inking DE Carl Granderson to a 4-year, 52 million dollar deal extension that features more than 35 million dollars in guarantees.
Granderson’s almost 36 million guarantee is the most by an unselected defensive lineman since these stats were collected in the past 20 years. The guarantee is the 4th most by any unpicked player, with ex-Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo at the top with 55 million dollars.

Carl’s contract is a major improvement from his current deal, a 2-year contract worth a little more than 5 million dollars with just 240,000 dollars guaranteed.
He was a rotational DL from 2019 to 2022 before Granderson earned the starting position over Payton Turner in practice camp this campaign. He has begun from the first minute on the field in 2 matches in 2023, with 2.5 sacks, 5 total tackles, 7 pressures, and 1 forced fumble as his organization remains with a perfect record.
