San Jose Earthquakes have announced that their goalkeeper Daniel has undergone a successful surgery to his lateral meniscus tear in his knee and is set to miss the next 4 up to 6 weeks.
Daniel picked up the injury during training session on Wednesday and is expected to return somewhere around mid-April.
Up until then the San Jose team are expected to rely on the services of second goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski. The club may consider putting Mexican youth inernational Emi Ochoa in goal, but that is yet to be decided.
Daniel, who was brough up from Brazilian side Internacional, was a regular starter for the Earthquakes up until his injury. Marcinkowski, who was the first-choice goalkeeper for the team in the 2021 and 2022 campaigns, started in last weekend’s 1-0 win over Colorado Rapids.
San Jose face St. Louis City SC in Matchday 4 on Saturday evening in their quest to reach the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2020.
