The head coach clinched its 1st ever Stanley Cup playoffs with his young players, where they also became the 1st National Hockey League organization to defeat a defending Stanley Cup champ in their inaugural post-campaign appearance.
Dave was a finalist for the Jack Adams Award, which is given every year to the best manager in the league, as he progressed with Seattle from 30th with 60 points to 12th with 100 points in the past campaign.
“We think that we made the right decision with Hakstol as our manager, and it was crucial to show that to the whole world with this deal extension,” shared GM Ron Francis to the media.
“The head coach and his team have done a fantastic job of creating an elite mindset in our locker room, and their work ethic shows the whole organization how each one must work,” the general manager added.
