Ferrari is reportedly on the verge of announcing the signing of the seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton in the coming days, according to the latest rumors in Italian media.
According to insiders, the British driver is in direct negotiations with Ferrari’s president, John Elkann, and if everything goes as expected, the agreement will become official in a matter of days. Despite having a contract with Mercedes until the end of this year, Hamilton is expected to make the move to Maranello as early as 2025.
It appears that the British driver’s contract with Mercedes includes a clause allowing him to leave at the end of the 2024 season. If the move to Ferrari materializes, Hamilton would replace Carlos Sainz and team up with Charles Leclerc, who recently signed a new long-term contract with the Scuderia.
Journalist Will Buxton also hinted at an upcoming major announcement in the driver market, stating on his X profile, “Hearing a big announcement is on the way before the end of the week. If it is what I think it is, it’s absolutely massive.”
