The Italian triumphed in the 1st set as only 1 break opportunity was enough for him as he converted it. His Danish opponent also had 1 break chance, but Jannik saved it.
In the 2nd set, Sinner had 6 break opportunities as 2 of them were match balls, but Rune saved them all and despite not having a single break chance, Holger forced a tiebreak. Despite the logic of the set, the Danish won the tiebreak 8-6 points and tied the result in the match.
In the 3rd set, the Italian won the set, as he did in the 1st set. The world number 2 had 1 opportunity, and he converted it to make it 5-3. After that, he served for the match and won the clash.
It’s interesting that Sinner and Rune had played 3 matches before today, and Holger had eliminated his opponent twice in them, but now the head-to-head statistic is evened.
Jannik Sinner is 14-2 against top 10 players since October
