Manchester United were put to the sword in their opening game of the 2023/24 campaign against Wolverhampton at Old Trafford on Monday night.
The Red Devils secured a narrow 1-0 win, but it was the Wolves, who were the dominant force, especially in the second half.

A late strike in the 76th minute by Raphael Varane from a beautifully chipped cross by Aaron Wan-Bissaka was enough to give the home side the edge and to secure the 3 points on the opening day of the season.
But it was all but smooth sailing for Erik Ten Hag’s men, as the away side proved to be more resilient, more creative and only the lack of finishing touch disabled them from finding the back of the net.
New signing Andre Onana was excellent and he had to be as there was an avalanche of shots he had to parry in order to keep his team’s advantage.
Mason Mount also made his Old Trafford debut, but his performance, much like the whole of United’s team, was rather sloppy and unimpressive.
United face Tottenham next Saturday in a crunch clash, where Erik Ten Hag will be looking to improve on significantly.
