Arne Slot claimed, “Emotions got the better of me,” as the Reds manager waits to learn about his suspension after being shown a red card in the last Merseyside derby at Goodison Park on Wednesday.
Liverpool’s head coach approached Michael Oliver after the end of the match and said something to him that swiftly resulted in the referee showing him a red card.
Slot shared this about his sent-off: “There is a procedure by the FA at the moment, so I can’t share more details.”
“Without a doubt, the emotions got the better of me. If I had another chance to do things differently, I would do it, and the most important thing is that if something like this happens in the future, react differently.”
Most likely, the Dutchman will lead his team from the touchline at the end of the weekend’s EPL game vs. Wolverhampton at Anfield while the FA checks Oliver’s report and announces his punishment.
Slot added that football is an emotional sport, and sometimes people make wrong choices, which happened in his case after the final whistle of the derby.
🚨🇧🇷 Arne Slot: “Matheus Cunha is a quality player and he has the quality to play for one of the top five teams in England”.
“If you go to the Dutch league and look at the team in 17th place, there is no player who could play for Ajax, PSV or Feyenoord”. pic.twitter.com/iVRadpSLMg
