Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claimed that the decision to bring Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford during his period at the helm of Man. United was a mistake.
Cristiano signed with the Red Devils during the summer of 2021. Still, the transfer hurt the team, and the Portugal superstar left after acrimonious circumstances and inked with Al Nassri in Saudi Arabia in a multimillion deal at the end of 2022.
“I thought that having the chance to ink Ronaldo and to turn it down would be a mistake and I felt we had to take it, but it turned out not how I imagined,” the former Red Devils head coach shared to The Athletic. “It felt so great when Ronaldo inked and the supporters felt that at that Newcastle match when the fans at our stadium were all happy after Ronaldo scored 2 goals in the 4-1 victory.
“Cristiano was still one of the best attackers in the world; he was looking at top shape.”
