The FA has “tried to make the best resolution with good aims” over tributes to those who have died in Israel and Gaza, according to England head coach Gareth Southgate.

Footballers will wear black armbands during today’s clash against Australia at Wembley, and a period of silence will be held in order to respect all the innocent people who have died so far during the escalation of the conflict.
The Football Association decided not to light up the England national stadium with the colors of the Israeli flag. However, the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport disagreed with that choice and labeled it “disappointing.”
In 2022, the FA lit Wembley’s arch in blue and yellow colors in support of Ukraine after the Russian invasion.
