The newcomers retaliated after last weekend defeat

St. Louis City trashed FC Cininnati 5-1 at home in a game, delayed by two hours due to tornado and thunderstorm on Saturday night.

The home team opened the scoring as early as the 3rd minute when Jared Stroud found the back of the net.

The rampant St. Louis were on a roll as they finished the first half strong to open up a three goal advantage, which got almost doubled early on in the second half as they bagged another two in 12 minutes.

The win ensures St. Louis team’s place back at the top of the table after they leapfrog the very same team they beat – Cincinnati.

After their last two defeats, which put an abrupt end to their dream MLS start, St. Louis found their game and once again dominated their opponent.

“We never really wanted to speak about anything being broken. We’re the creators of our own destiny,” head-coach Bradley Carnell said.

“We’ve got out of the blocks really quickly with the five wins, so we as a group set out standards really high. So how do we bounce back? Just try to keep it competitive, try and keep things jovial, fun, loose, but still serious… There’s always this ebb and flow, and we’ve got to balance between the chaos and the intensity that we bring.”
