Patrick Peterson has signed for Pittsburgh Steelers in a $14m, two-year deal, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported on Monday.
Peterson, who turns 33 this July, spent the last 2 seasons with the Vikings, picking up 5 passes in 2022 and defending 15 more.
Peterson comes as a replecement to Cam Sutton, who signed a three-year contract with the Lions for $33m. The team is considering bringing back William Jackson III on a lower salary, after releasing him earlier in the offseason for cap reasons. He, along with Peterson, will be looking to boost the squad, filled with veterans such as Levi Wallace, Arthur Maulet and Ahkello Witherspoon.
Peterson spoke of his signing for the Steelers in front of former Steelers CB Bryant McFadden.
“Obviously love coach (Mike) Tomlin and what he brings to the table,” Peterson told McFadden.
“And just how consistent he is. How consistent the defense is. How consistent his team is, year in and year out. They’re always in position to win ballgames, and that’s all you can ask for.
“Always been a big fan of how Mike T teams are always prepared to play a football game, even if they are out-matched on paper.”
