Aston Martin driver Lance Stroll has hit out at Formula 1 stewards over track limits penalties handed out during Sunday’s Qatar Grand Prix.
“It’s a joke that they give penalties for this. Nowadays the stewards don’t understand Formula 1. What we go through because of them: they give us penalties for the limits of the track, at the same time they make it narrower and tell us we can’t use the curbs because the tires don’t last.
“The limits of the track is something that needs to be addressed because we saw it in Austria, we saw it here, people were getting penalties. And we don’t gain any advantage when it goes off the track by three millimeters. 60 laps of full concentration at 65-70 degrees cockpit temperature at 5-6 times G.
“It’s disappointing. We fought there, had a good race, finished ninth and in the end because of two penalties we were classified 11th, out of the points. It’s disappointing that we didn’t get anything,” said Stroll.
